  2. To those who manage this website: Please add “Sensations Magazine” to your list of “New Jersey Magazines,” along with a link to our website, http://www.sensationsmag.com. We have been active for 23 years, and remain active, with new issues planned for 2010, 2011, and 2012.

  3. PHANfest 1, the first event in 25+ years to invite all 50 known NJ poetry publishers to the same place at the same time, takes place at Secaucus Public Library on Sunday, June 13, noon to 5pm. Created and organized by David Messineo of Sensations Magazine, the goal of the event is to raise $1,000 to purchase 2,000 single-serve cans of food to spread to 5-10 NJ food banks before July 4. This will be the first of an annual event, rotating between different NJ libraries. All funding raised will be fully allocated to the food bank purchases. The Secaucus Emergency Food Pantry will be one of the beneficiaries, as will individual food banks in Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Essex Counties (more if the $1,000 goal is exceeded).

Presses that missed the April 26 deadline for invitation acceptance will have until Sat May 15 to take part at a minimum of $10 per press; the price jumps to a minimum of $20 per press after May 15.

Each participating poet who makes a $10 or higher financial contribution will be allowed to read one poem, 50 lines or less; all contributions must be paid in advance of the event, and there are no refuds. Reading slots are being allocated by Mr. Messineo to 80 individuals (and he will set the sequence of readers), with the goals of representing as many presses as possible through the readings, as well as trying to have at least one poet from each county in NJ.

Readers must have one poem published in a NJ-based online or print publication in 2009 or 2010.

The 80 reading slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in reading for PHANfest 1, do the following:

    1. Go to http://www.sensationsmag.com, “PHANfest 1” button, for additional details. Read the full text.
    2. Then use the “Contact Us” button on the website, putting “PHANfest reader” in the title.
    3. Put your name, email address, contact phone # first.
    4. Put the name of the NJ-based journal(s) that published you in 2009 or 2010. If an online publication, include the link(s). If a print journal, include the journal name, issue #, and page #. All claims will be double-checked.
    5. Mr. Messineo will email you back to confirm you have a tentative slot, and include contribution information. Once your financial contribution is received, your slot is confirmed with your cancelled check.
    6. If you cannot attend but wish to support the fundraising goals of PHANfest 1, please make your contribution payable to “The Six Centuries Club,” and mail it to P.O. Box 132, Lafayette, NJ 07848.” Since the Six Centuries Club is a corporation, contributions (though fully allocated to charities) are not tax deductible.
    7. If you are not reading but interested in attending, contributions may be bade at the door.

Look forward to seeing you at PHANfest 1!

    David
